“Everything has a way of working out.” Lori kept repeating these words to me from the beginning of the journey. We began together by listing my house at a time when sales were good, and there were no other homes for sale in my neighborhood. From this point on and for the rest of this odyssey, difficulties continued to bubble up that Lori expertly peeled away like the layers of an onion, (while I sat idly by wringing my hands, and complaining from discouragement!).
The bottom immediately dropped out of the resale market, three houses were listed just across the street, and then the mortgage banking industry was set on its ears. “Things have a way of always working out”, she continually repeated. I heartily doubted it! She held open houses, brought in a professional stager, and even relisted it. She wouldn’t allow me to slash the price as was my knee-jerk reaction to the down turn in the housing market. “It will sell”, she promised, “It’s a good house. We just haven’t found the right buyer, yet.” Lo, and behold, we did, and it did.
The next chapter of the saga was finding the right house for me to move into…and we had two weeks! Persistence, her middle name, Lori found the perfect home, but informed me that we would be the third contract submitted. I gave up once again. Typical of her attitude, Lori couldn’t surrender…she said, “We have to at least try!” She doggedly chased down the seller’s realtor and persisently hounded her until we got the contract accepted. Then, when I couldn’t find funding that would work, Lori found an amazing mortgage banker who had the same work ethic…”never give up!”
That I am now writing this story in the study of my gorgeous new home is only because of Lori. She’s always been right…”Things do have a way of working out.”……but I am absolutely convinced that is true only if you are selling or buying with Lori Spencer!
